NHAC! is a duo of male voices that keep biting with incredible energy (‘nhacar’ means bite in the Occitan language) that won’t let you stand still for too long. With a strong Gascon flavor, mixing what could be called traditional with a modern, personal approach. Fiery rondeaus and trance mazurkas – or maybe the other way around. Either way – mesmerizing! Their performance is always a unique experience fueled with the direct flow of energy between the duo, their public, and the dance.
Until now, NHAC! has recorded one CD (already out of print) and the duo is currently working on the second album. They also had the pleasure and the privilege to play on the red carpet in Cannes during the presentation of the film ‘Le Grand Bal’ by Laetitia Carton and after its premiere at the festival.
Arnaud Bibonne – voice, bagpipes, shruti box, percussions
Daniel Detammaecker – voice, harmonicas, tonton, shruti box, percussions
Sprinkle Blizzard’s music is thoughtfully crafted to suit balfolk dance meetings. They are five experienced musicians, five fascinating musical personalities and five instruments from different parts of Europe.
A spontaneous and passionate approach to music – traditional dance melodies and own compositions, combined with their wit on stage, openness and virtuosity of the band members, is a new value on the balfolk scene. In their interpretation, balfolk music is lively, full of improvisation, intimate, honest, combining spiritual and ludic elements in an original and humorous way. In the diverse repertoire of the group, one can find, among others French mazurkas, waltzes, schottisches, chappeloises, Scandinavian polskas, Breton andro, polkas and other tunes made for dance.
Although members of the band have known each other for a long time – and met many times on musical trails as members of other groups – they started cooperation at the turn of 2017 and 2018 during the Folk Marathon festival in Brno. The final composition of the band emerged during the Lovembal 2018 balfolk festival in Poznań (?). Since then Sprinkle Blizzard cooperates and plays for dancers from Poland and Europe.
We will be lucky and honored to hear the whole band during Lovembal that means:
Angelika Hudler (Austria) – violin
Olena Yeremenko (Ukraine) – nyckelharpa
Eulalie Hupin (Belgium) – accordion
James “Goldfinch” Goldfinch (Poland) – Irish flute, low whistle
John Gałczewski (Poland) – Irish bouzouki
